Anna Glover

Lecturer in Technical Design and Production and Theater Management; Director of Theater Safety and Occupational Health

Before coming to work at the David Geffen School of Drama Anna Glover (they/them) had more than 12 years’ experience working in two of the largest and most prestigious theater and arts organizations in the United Kingdom: London’s Royal National Theatre (NT) and Southbank Centre. They served twice at the NT, first as Health and Safety Advisor from 2006–2008 and later as Head of Safety Risk and Fire Management from 2013–2017. At Southbank Centre they were the Health and Safety Specialist from 2008–2011 and Health and Safety Manager from 2011–2013. During this time they also taught at London’s Rose Bruford College of Theater and Performance from 2009–2015.

After moving to the US in 2016 Anna qualified as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and built a robust consulting practice continuing to work with NT and with the Ambassador Theatre Group; London’s Sadler’s Wells Theatre; and New York’s Lyric Theatre among others. Anna is active at USITT, serving as the Associate Commissioner for the Safety and Health Commission and Board Director, and is a member of the UKs Joint Advisory Committee for Entertainment, and the ETCP Council. Anna started the Safety Advisors Forum Live Entertainment (SAFLE) which is now in its fourth year.

Anna received their B.A. in English Literature from the University of Wales, Bangor in 1997. Anna lives with their wife Raquel, and cat Kobi in the unceded lands of the Wappinger, Quinnipiac and Paugussett peoples.
