Rachel Sheinkin

Lecturer Playwriting


Rachel Sheinkin, a graduate of the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University, has written the book for a number of musical-theatre pieces, including Little House on the Prairie, with Donna DiNovelli and Rachel Portman, and Sleeping Beauty Wakes, on a commission from Deaf West, which earned her an LA Stage Ovation Award for a world-premiere musical. She contributed the book to The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, for which she received both the Tony and the Drama Desk Awards for best book of a musical. Before writing for musicals, Rachel Sheinkin studied playwriting with Paula Vogel at Brown University and at Yale School of Drama. She is on the adjunct faculty of the Musical Theatre Writing of the Tisch School and is a Lecturer in Playwriting at Yale School of Drama.
