In 1930s New Orleans, new love springs from old hate, as two young lovers defy the violent social, political, and racial pressures that threaten to destroy them at every turn. With an all-black cast and original music, this Romeo and Juliet looks and sounds like none other, daring us to believe in the surviving power of love, even in the face of devastation.
