Eleanor Taylor is an AmSAT-certified teacher of the Alexander Technique. She teaches Alexander Technique at the David Geffen School of Drama at Yale, and has served on the AT faculty of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and the Manhattan School of Music in the Musical Theatre program. She completed her teacher certification at Alexander Technique New York City, and holds degrees in Vocal Performance from New England Conservatory (B.M.) and the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities (M.M.). She is a certified instructor in Jessica Wolf’s Art of Breathing. She maintains a private teaching studio in Union Square, Manhattan, where she specializes in working with actors and singers to improve performance, prevent injury and reduce anxiety using the Alexander Technique. Eleanor was an active performer for two decades, beginning as a light lyric soprano in opera and operetta, and eventually specializing in new vocal music, and has taken part in more than 50 world premieres in new music-theatre and chamber music. She is currently the Chair Elect of the American Society for the Alexander Technique, and serves on the peer-review board of the international publication The Alexander Journal.
